•  मशरूम का
    उपयोग प्राचीन काल से भोजन के रूप में किया जा रहा है। इन्हें बहुत ही कोमल माना जाता
    है। पोषण के दृष्टिकोण से मशरूम को मांस और सब्जियों के बीच रखा जाता है।

  • इनमें प्रोटीन,
    कार्बोहाइड्रेट और विटामिन्स भरपूर मात्रा में होते हैं। मशरूम कैलोरी में कम हैं और
    इसलिए दिल और मधुमेह रोगियों के लिए सर्वोत्तम हैं। मशरुम अनाज, फल और सब्जियों की
    तुलना में बेहतर हैं इनमें ताजा वजन के आधार पर प्रोटीन (3.7%) के अलावा कार्बोहाइड्रेट
    (2.4%), वसा (0.4%), खनिज (0.6%) और पानी (91%) है । मशरूम में मानव विकास के लिए सभी
    आवश्यक नौ अमीनो एसिड होते हैं।
  • मशरुम थायमिन
    (विटामिन-बी 1), राइबोफ्लेविन (बी 2), नियासिन, पैंटोथेनिक एसिड, बायोटिन, फोलिक एसिड
    का स्रोत है, विटामिन सी, डी, ए और के जो तत्व हैं खाना पकाने के बाद भी बचे रहते हैं।
    मशरूम में कम कैलोरी, उच्च प्रोटीन, उच्च फाइबर सामग्री और उच्च विटामिन के व सोडियम
    अनुपात, मधुमेह और उच्च रक्तचाप के रोगियों में आदर्श रूप से उपयुक्त हैं। कैंसर रोधी
    तत्व भी इसमें पाए जाते हैं।

    रूप से कृषि आधारित देश है जिसमें विविध कृषि-जलवायु, कृषि अपशिष्ट और जनशक्ति की प्रचुरता
    है, जो इसे सभी प्रकार के समशीतोष्ण, उपोष्णकटिबंधीय और उष्णकटिबंधीय मशरूम की खेती
    के लिए सबसे उपयुक्त बनाता है। इसे भूमिहीन किसानों, बेरोजगार युवाओं और अन्य उद्यमियों
    द्वारा लाभकारी रूप से शुरू किया जा सकता है। अन्य कृषि फसलों की तुलना में इसके लिए
    कम भूमि की आवश्यकता होती है और यह मूल रूप से एक इनडोर गतिविधि है। ये कृषि कचरे के
    पुनर्चक्रण के लिए आदर्श विधि हैं जो वायुमंडलीय प्रदूषण की समस्या दूर करते हैं।
  • इसलिए, मशरूम
    की खेती न केवल आर्थिक महत्व की है, बल्कि ग्रामीण युवाओं, महिलाओं और गृहिणियों को
    आर्थिक रूप से स्वतंत्र बनाने के लिए आय और स्वरोजगार के अवसरों को बढ़ाकर एकीकृत ग्रामीण
    विकास कार्यक्रम में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती है।
